Annual Volunteering Day with Groundwork: A Successful Partnership Story

We recently partnered with Groundwork for our latest annual volunteering day — and they were just as excited as we were. As they told us: “Your lot definitely like to get stuck in more than most!”. And so it proved..!

This year’s project took us to Newington Gardens in Elephant & Castle, part of Southwark Council’s Great Estates programme, which was set up to help provide local communities with access to improved green spaces.

Our team rolled up their sleeves to:

Construct new tables and seating!

Renew the bat boxes!

Clean out bee hives - collecting Southwark honey and beeswax in the process!

Relandscape the central community garden and maintain the wildly overgrown hedgerows!

We had a great time getting stuck in and everyone thoroughly enjoyed and embraced the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to our local community. We are looking forward to next year already!
