'Game-changing' Tileyard North Development

3rd Mar 2021

Delighted to be involved in the ‘game-changing’ project at Tileyard North, a 135,000 sq ft creative industries gem being transformed by City and Provincial Properties into the UK’s largest creative community outside of London.

Work is now well underway on the site at Rutland Mills, Wakefield and Wakefield Council leader Denise Jeffery has described the project as a “gamechanger” for the city. The redevelopment marks the final stage of Wakefield’s waterfront regeneration ‘masterplan’, which aimed to give the Calder riverside a new lease of life as a “significant cultural destination” in the North of England.

The project represents significant investment by Tileyard and CPP to create recording studios, post-production studios, flexible workspaces, creative edit suites, an education space, and a 30,000 sq ft central courtyard along with a new riverside walkway and improvements to the River Calder flood defenses. Tileyard North will have direct links to the existing Tileyard London community which is home to over 250 creative organisations, independent creative industry businesses and artists including The Prodigy, Lily Allen, Hurts, Ella Eyre and Sigala.
